Waxing Tech Program - Courses

The wax technician course is 115 hours of training in the processes of body waxing.  Students must master standard state requirements and prove their ability to work safely with waxing and tweezing procedures before being eligible to sit for the state board test.  Upon passing the state board theory and practical exam students will then apply for their license and upon receiving their license they will be ready for immediate employment.


Upon completion of the course requirements, the graduate will be able to:

  • Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence
  • Practice effective communication, skills, Visual poise, and proper grooming
  • Respect the need to deliver worthy service
  • Perform tweezing and waxing services correctly and safely
  • Apply learned theory, technical information, and related matter to assure sound judgment, decisions, and procedures
  • Master necessary subject material and have fulfilled 115 clock hours required by the Cosmetology Board of Virginia to take the Waxing Examination for licensure
  • Demonstrate the necessary skill level to enter the workforce in a beauty salon or Day Spa.
