Nail Tech Program - Courses

Wax Technician Course – 115 clock hours

Nail Care is a program of clearly defined objectives and competencies intended to provide training in all phases of nail care and the application of artificial nails.  Students mastering standard state requirements will be eligible to sit for a state board examination and upon passing will be ready for immediate employment.

Objectives

Upon competition of the program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self confidence
  • Practice effective communication, skills, visual  poise, and proper grooming
  • Respect the need to deliver worthy service
  • Perform the basic manipulative skills in all phases nail care
  • Apply learned theory, technical information, and related matter to assure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures
  • Master necessary subject material and have fulfilled 150 clock hours required by the Cosmetology Board of Virginia to take the Nail Technology Examination for licensure
  • Demonstrate the necessary skill level to enter the workforce in a beauty salon or nail salon

To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to techniques, trends, fashions, and methods for career development in cosmetology and related fields.
